Welcome to Get Good Creative! This is our very first blog post, and we’re happy you could join us. We want to start by introducing ourselves, and give you an idea of the marketing content we’ve got planned in the weeks ahead.

Who We Are

We’re not just a creative agency—we’re small business owners too! And we’ve learned a lot over the past 11 years in operation, both from our own experiences as well as those of our clients. We’ve dealt with everything from video advertising to social media marketing to debugging hacked websites (😫 What a nightmare. Please set safe passwords, everyone!) So we want to share everything we’ve learned with other people like us: small business owners who don’t have a ton of time, money, or know-how to navigate this confusing and ever-changing digital world that’s become so integrated into our daily lives.

No-Nonsense Advice

We’re not going to tell you that you need to use your Facebook page. You’ve been told that by everyone under the sun, including Facebook. Sorry, I mean Meta. (Whatever.) We’re here to tell you why you shouldn’t use Facebook. Or at least when you should, or how to do it in a way that best suits your business. Not to mention what the best practices are so you don’t get docked in Google search for having a crappy Facebook page that you totally forgot you set up six years ago.

See, that’s the problem with advice: it’s usually one-size-fits-all. And we all know that’s just not true. What works for a design agency doesn’t work for a dentist, or an attorney, or a consultant, or a dance company…We want to share advice that’s practical, realistic, and manageable, no matter what your business is. Plus, we’ll only recommend services and products we actually use and believe in.

Oh, and we also promise not to waste your time with technical knowledge or jargon. We’ll explain concepts and strategies in straightforward, easy-to-understand language, because we want to help every small business owner out there, not just the ones who are technically a small business according to the SBA but actually have an entire IT and marketing department…

What Kinds of Topics to Expect

In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be covering a range of topics including social media marketing, website design, video production, free and affordable apps and services, small business marketing, dealing with bad reviews, using ChatGPT, and everything else a local business needs to know to stop themselves from tearing out their hair when managing their business online. Boy, do we know how crazy it can make you. So we’ll walk you through the essential steps, all while offering easy to follow tips and strategies that are both time-efficient and budget friendly. You’ll also learn a lot about things you didn’t even know you needed to consider.

Get Involved

That’s what a blog is all about! Feel free to leave comments, ask questions, and suggest topics you want to read. After all, we want to write what you want to read. And marketing is always changing, so we want to hear from you and learn from your experiences too—We bet you have something to offer that’s different from our own knowledge.

So thanks for joining us! We want to help the small guys succeed, and we look forward to being your source of handy information, clear guidance, and creative inspiration as you navigate this noisy world of online marketing.
